Expansion Features

Returning Keyword: Quest
Get ready to embark on the Quest of a lifetime! Quests are 1-cost spells that start in your opening hand. Complete the Quest’s requirements throughout the game to get a powerful reward! Each class gets a new Legendary Quest card in The Lost City of Un’Goro.
New Keyword: Kindred
Primal energy courses through Un’Goro Crater, infusing cards with bursts of power. By studying the area, we have found a way to predict these surges: cards with the Kindred keyword get a bonus effect if you played a card of the same minion type or spell school on your previous turn. Plan ahead to take advantage of their power!
Familiar Faces and Throwback Mechanics
Loh has gathered a team of adventurers to help him on his expedition, including a couple familiar faces: Elise Starseeker, the famous explorer, is the team’s navigator; and Umbra, the former leader of the Tortollans, is the team’s guide. Throughout the search for The Lost City of Un’Goro, you’ll see cards and mechanics reminiscent of our first journey to Un’Goro.
Tell the Tales of Un’Goro Crater
Stories are how the Tortollan people pass on knowledge of the Crater to their next generation. There are seven Story cards in The Lost City of Un’Goro, each of which tells a tale about the last time adventurers entered Un’Goro Crater.
Use Maps to Get Riches
A good map is crucial for exploration. Map cards let you Discover a card and then, if you play your chosen card that turn, get another one of the options too. There are six Maps in The Lost City of Un’Goro-use them to plan out future turns or follow your Map right away for extra treasure!

FAQ

When will The Lost City of Un’Goro launch?
July 8, 2025.
What is Un’Goro Crater?
Long ago, the Keeper Freya created Un’Goro Crater as a place to experiment with Titan creations. The Titan’s Watcher Nablya was assigned to the Crater and enlisted the help of the Tortollan people to ensure the Titans’ experiments went undisturbed. Legend has it that the Tortollans built a city within the Crater that has stood hidden for millennia, powered by volcanic energy and Titan technology. Hearthstone first visited the Un’Goro Crater in the expansion Journey to Un’Goro, back in April of 2017. At that time, Umbra was the leader of the Tortollans in the Crater, but she resented the Titans for using her people and she sought to expose the Lost City to the outsiders, which lead to her banishment.
When does this expansion take place?
This expansion takes place after the events of Journey to Un’Goro. For years, Umbra has been plotting her revenge. Now she is secretly working with the Cult of the Damned to take back control of the city by force, using the adventurer Loh as an unwitting distraction!
What are the Lost City of Un’Goro promotional cards?
There are four free cards leading up to the launch of The Lost City of Un’Goro! Endbringer Umbra is the free Legendary card available now just for logging in. Blob of Tar is a Common card also available to claim for free in the in-game Shop right now. Two more cards, Dissolving Ooze (from The Lost City of Un’Goro) and Sharp-Eyed Lookout (from the Event Set), will be available for free as rewards for an in-game event in this patch. See the 32.4 Patch Notes for details.
How will Catch-Up Packs work in The Lost City of Un’Goro?
There will be new Catch-Up Packs with The Lost City of Un’Goro. As always, those Catch-Up Packs will catch you up to the expansion by featuring the past sets that will still be in Standard when The Lost City of Un’Goro launches: Whizbang’s Workshop, Perils in Paradise, The Great Dark Beyond, and Into the Emerald Dream. These Catch-Up Packs will include 5-50 cards per pack, with 1-13 cards per set per pack. Previous Catch-Up Pack logic will remain unchanged no matter when you open them. In-game Catch-Up Pack grants will swap over to the new Catch-Up Packs with Patch 33.0. You can tell which Catch-Up Pack you are opening by looking at the set symbols on the pack. See the Disclosure Page for more details.
What’s the best Lost City of Un’Goro pre-purchase bundle?
We’re offering three pre-purchase bundles this expansion: our usual Pre-Purchase Bundle and Mega Bundle options, plus the Sequence Bundle (unlocked after getting the other two pre-purchase bundles). The Sequence Bundle offers the best value for players who want the most packs possible at launch. For players who plan to choose just one Pre-Purchase bundle, the Mega Bundle is the better value option for the Hearthstone Mode.
When can I open my pre-purchased packs?
Pre-purchase packs (as well as any other The Lost City of Un’Goro Packs accumulated at that time) will initially be able to be opened during the Pre-Release Tavern Brawl, from July 1 to July 8. Outside of that, The Lost City of Un’Goro packs will be able to be opened when the expansion launches on July 8.
What is the Pre-Release Tavern Brawl?
The Pre-Release Tavern Brawl will return for The Lost City of Un’Goro, running from the launch of Patch 33.0 on July 1 until the launch of the expansion on July 8. In the Pre-Release Tavern Brawl, you will be able to open your Lost City of Un’Goro packs, build decks, and play with them in a mini-competition. Prizing will match the prizing structure from last Pre-Release Tavern Brawl based on how well you do, but will award cards and packs from The Lost City of Un’Goro, so you can take your winnings and go again! Everyone will get one free entry; each subsequent entry will cost 2 Tavern Tickets, 300 Gold, or 400 Runestones.
